Annihilation

Annihilation is a beautifully written climate fiction. It reminded me of another book of similar exploration themes, Rendezvous with Rama, but it held its uniqueness.

I could not put this book down, and at moments, I couldn’t breathe or blink. The anticipation of learning what Area X is and why it is the way it is, is truly exciting and unnerving. It also begs the question: what would the world look like without humans, or with nature-blended organisms? The scientist and the escapist in me would definitely volunteer for this expedition, and probably would make the same decisions as the biologist did.

Jeff VanderMeer is a genius to have written such an action-packed and thought-provoking story in 195 pages.
