Empire of Pain
The author has done a great job of unveiling the criminality, bribery and misconduct that happened in the USA with the marketing of painkillers like OxyContin and other related drugs.
This book is about the infamous Sackler family, their ever-growing greed, and their blatant inconsideration of other human beings. It goes into detail about their role in the opioid crisis in America and how they benefited from the epidemic. Millions of people died of opioid addiction, and this book documents every single way the Sacklers and Purdue Pharma tried to hide that fact and spread misinformation.
It makes me sick to my stomach thinking about how much power these people had, and what lengths they went to in order to destroy people’s lives and justify their wrongdoing.
