Project Hail Mary

I really liked the world-building in Project Hail Mary. While the heavy emphasis on physics was a bit overwhelming for me at times, I absolutely loved the dynamic between Rocky and Grace.

However, I felt the extensive scientific detail sometimes overshadowed the character development. Because of this, I was not able to immerse myself into the characters. A positive side of this though: it does show you really cool ways of thinking in science, and the conversations between the characters resonated with the conversations you have with your labmates as you troubleshoot your experiments.

I was also not a big fan of the frequent shifts between timelines. Maybe this was intended, and I can see why, but I felt a bit annoyed by it.

All in all, I did like this book, but I was lost in the technicalities and could not enjoy it as much as I wanted to.
