R. F. Kuang’s Babel is a page-turner and the best novel of hers I have read so far. It is an immersive tale of dark academia that explores the beauty and deceit of language and translation. Beneath it all, there is a seething critique of colonialism and its impact, and the power structures that still shape our world today.
The author has done a great job of unveiling the criminality, bribery and misconduct that happened in the USA with the marketing of painkillers like OxyContin and other related drugs.
The heroine of this book, Scarlett O’Hara, is probably the most fascinating and unexpected woman I have ever read about. She is the naughtiest, craziest, cleverest, most jealous, bravest, most daring girl.
Before reading this book, I never saw Medusa as anything more than a monster. And after reading it, I cried for and with Medusa, her family, and her sisters.
Reading Little Women in winter always feels like a warm hug and makes me miss home, even though my home has little or no resemblance to nineteenth-century Massachusetts.
I really liked the world-building in Project Hail Mary. While the heavy emphasis on physics was a bit overwhelming for me at times, I absolutely loved the dynamic between Rocky and Grace.
Beautiful and thought-provoking, this book encapsulates the essence of curiosity-driven research. Although it centres on Jennifer Doudna, it also acknowledges major contributors in the field of genome biology such as Emmanuelle Charpentier, Feng Zhang, George Church and Eric Lander, and the indispensable role of postdocs and PhD students in scientific advancement.
For someone who works with genomes, mostly plants and worms, this book provides a lot of insight into what we can learn from the journey of the human genome. Dr. Euan Ashley is a great storyteller, which makes the book easy to read and digest. I loved how he is able to turn complex technologies into metaphors that make them understandable.

I was a Teaching Assistant for Animal Biology Laboratory (ABI50A) in the Fall Quarter of 2023. This is an undergraduate course where students ask their own research questions on a model organism (Centrachid fishes) and conduct short population biology and field experiments to answer those questions.

I was a Teaching Assistant for Climate Change Course (SAS25) in the Winter Quarters of 2022 to 2025. This is an undergraduate course that introduces students to scientific principles of climate change and its societal, political and economic implications. I taught this course both in-person and online.
